Topton Boardwalk Park

Posted by firstman2006 on June 13, 2007

The park at Topton has been a favorite park for me to take my kids for well over a decade. I started taking my son there Hermans Drive-In of Toptonwhen he was a preschooler, and then took both him and my daughter there on a regular basis. It must have been a while since we had been there, but the other day, my daughter requested that I take her to the park and then to Hermans Drive in for Ice Cream.

The Ice Cream at Hermans was good, but sadly, the park has since fallen into a state of disrepair. Boards are broken and as you can tell by the pictures, graphiti is everywhere.

If I was a business that had sponsored this park, I would be embarrassed to  have my name associated with the park being in this condition. I will have to give it serious thought the next time I think about going to here.

Flip This House

Flip This House

Flip This House,
originally uploaded by jason.banks.

House flipping is a way to make money with real estate. Houses that are in bad condition or in need of repair, but have the ability to be resold after investing a little effort and time, can then be sold or flipped for a profit. There is a whole area of real estate and real estate finance that is geared towards doing this type of transaction.

Hard Money Lenders are lenders that lend money to people who want to do these types of transactions. The hard money is money that is loaned using property as colateral. Hard Money loans are made to people who need a loan quickly, and the interest rate is usually very high.

So if someone is a hands on type of person, and they want to get involved, flipping houses is something that they should learn about.

Wind Power

Posted by firstman2006 on July 7, 2006

Unplugged Living picture

I came across this picture on the unpluggedLiving.com blog post Windy Flower Power. I Have been in favor of Wind power as long as I can remember. If not for my limited resources, I would love to have one on my property. Some day perhaps I will be able to get one like this picture which was commisioned by the Dutch government, who wanted designers to come up with wind mills that blended into the landscape. I never would think that the Dutch would have to worry about that, since their landscape is already so picturesque. These wind mills do look a little strange, perhaps they could add a bit of color to them to make them look like giant flowers.
