Phone Calls while Traveling

cell phone off

I love those movies where the person throws their phone into the ocean. More times than I can count I have been temped to do this. It seems that they are an integeral part of our lives, so much so that kids request them for presents. When I go on vacation I need to take one with to stay in touch with kids and unfortuneatly work. I don’t need it that much for work, but Lizzie is continually using hers for client calls. While in Canada last winter she had many calls, and she then had quite a phone bill the following month. As a result of this trip, I now propose that while traveling abroad, International Calling Cards be used for making any phone calls that will be over a minute. These can be purchased on line from ahead of time, for very reasonable rates. I actually suggest that people keep a calling card handy for emergencies. Cloncom also sells wireless calling cards that can be used on the invader of our personal time, the cell phone.

There have been times, such as in ski lodges, which have wireless connections but no cell phone signal that I would be temped to use VOIP to make phone calls. I do make a prediction, that in addition to using Lizzies Vonage, I will use VOIP while traveling, and may even purchase pc to phone calling cards from […]
